Oracle Launches New Specialty 'Expert' Certs, Betas

5/16/2007 -- Last month Oracle announced a new line of specialty certifications as part of its overall certification program, each of which comes with the title Oracle Certified Expert.

There are currently four specialites available:

  • Oracle Database 10g: Managing Oracle on Linux Certified Expert
  • Oracle Database 10g: Real Applications Clusters Administrator Certified Expert
  • Oracle 11i Workflow Certified Expert
  • Oracle 11i System Admininstrator Certified Expert

Detailed requirements for each of the specialties are available here. Currently, the database ones require passing an exam plus holding a previous Oracle certification or taking a hands-on training course from Oracle. The 11i certifications do not have any other requirements at this time besides passing one exam.

The exams for the 11i certifications appear to be currently available at Prometric testing centers worldwide for $195 U.S.

Oracle is currently offering discounted betas on the Database 10 and Custers exams. It also has another beta for an exam not in the program, 1Z0-312 Oracle Application Server 10g: Administration II. For more information on participating in any of these betas, go here.

5/24/07: Anonymous says: R12 was just released with forms, but still no words on the Application Dev certifications. SAP is already ahead. If Oracle wants to switch to Java, I don't see the need to "upgrade" to R12 with the same Forms middleware. They need to at least think of the developers who work on extending the applications. DBA don't do that, but everything is DBA oriented with Oracle. The apps technology cert was recently updated to Apps DBA cert. Where do the apps people really fit in? The Apps tech should focus on the application, and the DBA on the database. If Oracle wants to be a major player in the apps field, they need to be consistent with their certs.

6/21/13: Andri from tzPXxZcdJDCYzo says: Not sure if you really waentd this posted here, Antisoy, as it would also be of use on the landing page where the most recent milk research is published.Let me guess- you are American? Americans love the raw milk! and one profile view is strange. Now, what you say has some truth in it, but its all a little polemical. The facts on milk and organic milk's nutrition are well established at this stage, and grass fed is a significant part of it. Both types of milk, even when pasteurised and homogenized, have some health benefits and some issues. The more grass fed the better, and organic guarantees this.As it happens, I drink raw milk every day from a kerry cow that is raised organically (though not certified organic). I have also written about the benefits of raw milk (elsewhere, not available as of yet on line) and they are manifold.Does this mean I don't welcome proof that organic, grass fed pasteurised homogenised milk is worth buying, when compared to other milk? No. Not by a long shot. Its all about enabling baby steps towards buy-your-own-cow consumer groups. Which I look forward to.
