7/11/2007 -- If you're certified on Oracle but want to add a MySQL title to your resume, now may be the opportune time.

MySQL AB is making an out-and-out play for Oracle Certified DBAs, announcing this week that it will offer Oracle DBAs free MySQL training plus a complimentary pass for one of its certification exams.

The training will come in the form of one-day classes the company is calling MySQL DBA Boot Camps that will be offered in New York and San Francisco in August and will also be available online. "This MySQL DBA Boot Camp is designed for senior-level Oracle DBAs to get quickly familiar with MySQL database concepts and best practices," the company said in a released statement.

Those who attend the in-person classes can receive a free copy of the "'MySQL Certification Study Guide" and exam passes.

The boot camps normally cost $1,000.

Although the provided information doesn't directly state what must be used to qualify for the promotion, one could assume that candidates will need to prove that they hold an Oracle DBA certification.

The offer is limited to 100 registrants per location.
