Network Publishing Industry Veteran Doug Barney Joins Microsoft Certified Professional Magazine
Will manage all software and hardware coverage.

Irvine, CA, August 29, 2003 – Microsoft Certified Professional Magazine, the leading Windows network management magazine franchise, announced the hiring of computer industry veteran Doug Barney as the newest member of its editorial team.

Barney will manage all software and hardware product coverage in MCP Magazine as well as on MCPmag.com, the online community for IT professionals.

“I’m really pleased to welcome a person of Doug’s stature to the magazine,” said Publisher Henry Allain. “We’re constantly investing in the best talent and Doug certainly fits right in. As the face of MCP Magazine to the vendor community, his knowledge and contacts in the Windows networking industry will help serve our readers even better.”

Barney brings a wealth of experience and technical knowledge to the magazine. He has covered the technology field for 20 years, including senior-level stints at Network Computing, Network World, InfoWorld, Computer World and AmigaWorld magazines. Barney has also been a frequent moderator for panels at Comdex, Networld+Interop and other shows. In addition, he’s appeared on CNN multiple times as a computer expert.

“IT professionals are saddled with nearly impossible expectations for making their systems work well under incredible restraint – both in terms of staffing and budget,” said Editorial Director Dian Schaffhauser. “We believe Doug’s work on behalf of our readers will help them make sound decisions on where to spend their technology dollars.”

Barney is pleased to be joining the highly-experienced staff at MCP Magazine. “I like its tight focus on the needs of the Microsoft certified professional community. It really does build a sense of community among the readers, and speaks to them,” he said.

Barney can be reached via e-mail at [email protected].
