New Orleans CTO to Speak at Microsoft Certified Professional Magazine’s Techmentor Conference
Greg Meffert to Speak on Technology Strategy and Challenges in managing city’s infrastructure

March 5, 2004 (Chatsworth, CA) --- Greg Meffert, CTO, City of New Orleans, will be a featured speaker on Monday, April 5 at Microsoft Certified Professional Magazine’s TechMentor Conference & Exhibition at the Hyatt Regency in New Orleans, LA.

Meffert will present “From a CTO’s Perspective,” detailing the strategy for moving a city that’s better known for its history, music and food into the 21st century of technology. In this 90-minute session Meffert will share the unique problems he and his staff face in keeping the IT infrastructure running, discuss the city’s implementation of Microsoft technologies, and reveal how he became a CTO in the first place.

”The Chief Technology Officer no longer has a job that simply entails signing the tech purchase orders,” said Conference Chair Dian Schaffhauser. “These days, this person has to become an expert in ‘creative destruction,’ -- remolding the IT team and its mission to better understand and address compelling organizational needs. We’re delighted to have the chance to hear a battle-hardened professional of Greg’s stature share his practices and insights.”

TechMentor’s technical training program is developed by the editors of Microsoft Certified Professional Magazine. Conference attendees will hear from such renowned Windows networking experts as Bill Boswell and Don Jones on systems administration and sever operations; Roger Grimes on security; Gary Olsen on Active DirectoryTM ; Chris Wolf on storage essentials; and Derek Melber on Group Policy, and a host of other networking, security and messaging authorities.

Along with the technical sessions, TechMentor will have a series of half-day hands-on workshops to help attendees update their skills to Windows Server 2003. Presented by the Training Camp, these accelerated workshops are intended for experienced systems administrators and systems engineers currently managing and supporting older networks.

TechMentor is produced by 101communications. Details and registration information are available at TechMentorEvents.com.
