Noted Author and Tech Journalist Joins Redmond Magazine

Irvine, CA, September 30, 2005 -- Michael Desmond, author of four books on computers and PC World veteran this week joined Redmond magazine as Editor at Large.

In October 2004, Microsoft Certified Professional Magazine relaunched as Redmond magazine. The magazine redesigned, added high-profile journalists to its already strong staff, widen its coverage to address IT management issues, and declared its total independence from Microsoft. The results have been impressive -- ad pages are up, market share is growing, successful electronic properties have been launched, and the profile of the magazine has increased by an order of magnitude.

These are the elements that drew Desmond to the publication. "I'm excited about joining the team at Redmond magazine. This is a talented crew that managed a very ambitious transformation of a long-standing IT book, and the results speak for themselves," Desmond says. "Redmond magazine brings editorial energy and momentum to the area of Microsoft IT technology. It is a fertile ground for exploring new approaches and ideas, and a terrific opportunity for me to develop as a technology journalist."

Desmond spent six years at PC World as a news editor and reviews editor. He also served as executive editor for Multimedia World Magazine.

A well known Windows technical expert, Desmond has authored Peter Norton’s Complete Guide to Computer, The Windows 2000 Professional Bible, Tom’s Hardware Guide: High-Performance PC Secrets, and Microsoft Office in 10 Steps or Less.

Desmond has a Master of Science degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
