Carolyn A. April Named Executive Editor, Features of Redmond Magazine


Framingham, Ma. -- October 30, 2006 -- Veteran journalist Carolyn A. April has been named Executive Editor, Features for Redmond magazine. April, who has covered technology for over 10 years, most recently worked as Managing Editor for VARBusiness magazine. In her new role she will write and edit in-depth features and news analysis stories, along with helping set the direction of the magazine and its Web site.

Her unrelenting commitment to journalistic excellence, leadership, and knowledge of all major market in which Microsoft competes, both from a technology and business aspect, is unmatched,” said Ed Scannell, Editor of Redmond magazine.

For over four years at VARBusiness, April covered the third-party IT channel and major software companies including Microsoft, IBM and Oracle. There, she helped drive strategic planning for the publication and headed up several major editorial research projects including the year’s top Technology Innovators event.

Before VARBusiness April spent nearly seven years as an online and news editor at InfoWorld, covering both software and hardware beats. Earlier in her career she worked as a daily news reporter at The Patriot-Ledger in Quincy, Mass., covering city and education beats and served as managing editor of The Advocate Newsweeklies in Williamstown, Mass.

April holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University. She is married with two daughters and lives in Nashua, N.H.
