IT Media Veteran Barb Darrow Joins 1105 Redmond Media Group
High Profile Journalist will serve as Industry Editor for Redmond Developer News, Other Redmond Publications.

Irvine, CA -- November 5, 2007 -- Barb Darrow, a veteran of CRN magazine and former Microsoft reporter for InfoWorld, has joined the 1105 Redmond Media Group as industry editor.

Darrow’s primary duties will be writing for Redmond Developer News (RDN), as well as blogging and breaking news for its Web site RedDevNews.com. Given her breath of experience, Darrow will also contribute to Redmond magazine and Redmond Channel Partner.

“The 1105 Redmond Media Group has built an impressive staff, recruiting talent from Network World, CIO, Network Computing, VARbusiness, Corporate Computing, CMO, InfoWorld, and other top IT publications. I’m thrilled to be joining former co-workers and competitors, both of whom I consider friends. I also look forward to working for a media company that never stops thinking about new ideas and new products,” Darrow says.

“After competing against Barb for so many years, I knew it would be far better to have her working for us rather than against us. Barb has been covering Microsoft non-stop for some two decades. She’s broken countless stories, been a hugely successful blogger, and has remarkable access to industry leaders. We’ve been trying to recruit Barb for years. It finally worked,” says Doug Barney, vice president, editorial director of the 1105 Redmond Media Group.

"Barb has proven herself to be a relentless, high-energy reporter and keen-sighted industry watcher. She brings a terrific blend of experience, energy and deep industry contacts to RDN, which will help us further improve our coverage of the Microsoft development arena," says RDN founding editor Michael Desmond. “RDN readers face a serious challenge trying to stay on top of all the activity in the Microsoft development space. As industry editor at RDN, Barb will help readers understand the core issues that affect their jobs. Whether it's getting to the bottom of a far-reaching Microsoft initiative or grappling with the implications of a powerful new technology," Desmond adds.

Darrow is the type of journalist the 1105 Redmond Media Group has been hiring since its founding three years ago. “Our group is focused on producing high quality content with complete credibility and the ability to represent the reader 100%. Talented journalists like Barb Darrow give us our editorial edge over the competition,” says Henry Allain, president of the 1105 Redmond Media Group.
