101communications Names New Publisher for Federal Computer Week

Falls Church, VA. September 5, 2002—Anne A. Armstrong has been named Publisher of Federal Computer Week, the leading publication for the federal government information technology market published by 101communications.

As publisher of Federal Computer Week, Armstrong will oversee the 86,000-circulation newsweekly, as well as FCW.com, which delivers timely news to federal, state and local government IT professionals; semi-weekly electronic newsletters, and a market-leading events group that includes E-Gov, producer of the largest trade show devoted to electronic government and a number of conferences for government technology professionals, the Federal 100 Awards and the Government CIO Summit series.

“Anne is truly an exceptional leader in the area of information technology journalism, with a long career in publishing and business development,” said Jeffrey S. Klein, President and CEO of 101communications. “We are thrilled that she is returning to lead the integration of all our government IT products in this important market and assure that the FCW Media Group continues to cement its position as the market leader in media for the government IT community,” he said. Armstrong will report to Gordon Haight, executive vice president of 101.

For the past three years, Armstrong served as president of Virginia’s Center for Innovative Technology, the nonprofit corporation created to spur the growth of technology and technology businesses in the Commonwealth. Prior to that, Armstrong was Editor-in-Chief of Federal Computer Week. Under her leadership, the publication won more than three dozen awards for news and design.

"I am delighted to return to a publication and a market I love,” said Armstrong. “The government market is always dynamic and challenging, but it is even more so right now. I look forward to seeing its growth and evolution and to ensuring that FCW offers both comprehensive marketing solutions for our advertisers and timely, unparalleled content for our readers.”

In addition to Armstrong’s appointment, 101 also named Jeffrey G. Calore General Manager of the FCW Media Group. Calore, formerly Vice President, Business Development, for Digital Envoy Inc., will be responsible for sales and marketing of all the FCW Media Group products.

Calore’s background includes extensive sales and general management experience in the IT media industry, spanning print, online, research, events and trade shows. Some of his past positions include General Manager, Washington Operations at Reed Exhibition Companies, where he was responsible for several federal IT events including FOSE and Director of Sales for National Trade Productions.
