8/31/2010 -- At its recent Breakaway 2010 conference, CompTIA mentioned that Windows 7 questions will be integrated into the two existing A+ exams. This will be done as a rolling update that will not require a new version of either exam to be created. The latest incarnation of the certification involves passing two exams (220-701 and 220-702), and both include operating systems as domains (20 percent and 34percent, respectively). When originally released, the OSes questioned on the exam were given as Windows 2000, Windows XP (32bit and 64bit) and Windows Vista (32bit and 64bit).
There is no word as of yet on the date of the official inclusion of the new questions, and whether Windows 7 questions will join the pool with the others or possibly replace Windows 2000 questions.
Cisco Security Solutions Exam Being Updated
November 15 is the final day upon which candidates can test on the Security Solutions for Systems Engineers specialist exam (642-566 SSSE) to become certified as a Cisco Security Solutions and Design Specialist. It is being replaced in the certification track by another exam by the same name but different number (642-583 SSSE).
While there are some minor differences between the two exams (75 minutes allotted for the questions on the old, 60 for the new), the primary difference between the two exams is that 583 includes one new domain: Sell web security solutions, featuring:
- Articulate the value and features of Ironport solutions
- Articulate the value and features of Scansafe solutions
