3/21/2012 -- A basic knowledge of wireless security principles has found its way onto a number of CompTIA certification exams. It is tested upon on the Security+ exam and Network+ exam, and will be on the newest round of A+ exams as well. Here's a three-minute video titled "Wireless Security Overview 101" covers the basic user interface settings of wireless.
This video was originally created for the CompTIA Security+ Deluxe Edition Study Guide and is included on the CD accompanying it.
LPI Starting 'Linux Essentials' Program
Starting in June, the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) is rolling out a new certificate of achievement program in Linux Essentials. The program is intended for new Linux users who will be exposed to it through schools, training centers and educational venues -- sort of a stepping stone prior to LPI Level I certification. The subject matter it covers falls beneath four topic areas:
- The Linux community and a career in open source
- Popular operating systems and major open source applications
- Understanding open source software and licensing
- Linux command line basics, files and scripts
The program will start in June outside the United States with the intent of being worldwide in 2013. More information can be found here.
