4/10/2012 -- A few years back, many certification vendors began splitting their allegiances -- some choosing to go only with Prometric and others only with Pearson VUE. CompTIA chose to stay with both and allow testing centers beneath both chains to offer its "plus" certifications (A+, Network+, Security+, et cetera).
Come July 9, that will no longer be the case. Pearson VUE testing centers will be the only ones offering CompTIA certification exams.
According to the posted FAQ, May 4 will be the last day to purchase an exam voucher from Prometric and July 8 will be the last day to take an exam at one of its testing centers.
Smile! Photo IDs Are a Growing Part of Exam Security Procedures Illustrating that exam security is a problem across the board and not just in regard to those associated with IT, those who take the SAT and ACT exams will now have a new safeguard in place. Beginning this fall, exam candidates must submit a headshot of themselves when they apply to take an exam. That photo will be printed on the ticket needed for admission and the student must present it at the site.
For the first time, students must also identify the high school they currently attend. This is important because that same photo that was used to allow them admittance to the exam will be placed on the score sheet, and a copy of the score sheet (for the first time) will be mailed to the student's school. Administrators and guidance counselors now can look at the photos and scores and verify the student's identity.
While these steps are far from fool-proof, they go a long way in the right direction and I suspect we will see photos on all IT certifications in the near future.
CompTIA Seeking CDIA+ Survey Candidates CompTIA is looking to update the CDIA+ exam (Certified Document Imaging Architect) and needs professionals in the field of digital imaging/records management to take a job task survey. Approximately 200 more completed surveys are desired (it takes about 15 minutes to answer all the questions). If you're interested in helping, you can find the survey here.
